"I downloaded the entire Jackass seasons 1 to 3 mpegs (a total of over 4gb worth) off Grokster in one weekend"
Talking about a rumour that cable will be metered. Imagine downloading 4Gb? I've actually pulled a similar stunt at 2Gb, but server stuff and code and logs - Man! Those logs. Tonnes of them.

"UK consumers can get broadband access for under £20 per month for the first time.
In the last week, ET Global Solutions launched a rock-bottom residential USB package for £18.95 (including VAT) and fairADSL began offering an ADSL package costing £18.99 per month.
There's an activation fee of around £60 for both services, and then (in common with other ISPs) consumers will have to fork out for ADSL modems and a micro-filter. Both packages are (naturally enough) self-install."
Hmmm.
£60.00 divided by 12 months = £5 per month
so it's really £25.00 per month. Things may change after a year so only divide by 12. Filters are £60, modem £85 (or the other way around). Still not as neat as an installed by a specialist Telewest's half or one meg service - with a free help line (no 50p per minute charges).

"New research from UK telecoms watchdog Oftel shows that reduced prices and special offers for Îalways onâ broadband Internet access have successfully increased take up of the services. Oftelâs latest report, which looks at the domestic broadband market in the UK, France, Germany, Sweden and the US, says that the prices that UK subscribers pay for broadband have fallen by more than 33% since last year and are now broadly in lines with those paid by customers in France, Germany and North America. The regulator also says that the price reductions have significantly boosted service take-up with the broadband user base up by more than 50% since January 1. "

"But Democratic Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed, a West Point grad who spent 14 years in active duty, said the "palpable tension" between the two camps is growing, not fading. "All along, there has been this division within the Administration between those who see Iraq as something that has to be done regardless of the costs and those who ask, 'What are the costs?' It's almost schizophrenic, and Bush is caught in the middle.""

"One young man told me: "Holy war or jihad is done when you are being murdered, you are being killed... your innocent brothers and your sisters are being killed. Then you go into the field of battle and war against the enemy.
