"I can't explain the disappearing postings phenomenon - it just happens sometimes, sorry."
Well, I'd like to explain them. Of course, I don't know the exact details, but suspect that:
- The machine crashed after you posted and didn't have time to save the database. Thus, when the machine restarted it is as though you never posted that post.
- The post never actually arrived on the machine, thus it never appeared on your home page. Something happened when you posted the item that was more to do with the wider internet than blogfootball. Pigeons on the phone line, trolls chewing you broadband cable, etc..
- As above, but for some reason, that I don't know, the post got to the machine, but it never entered into the database.
Whatever the reason, if you are about to post a very long article, you'd be wise to save it in a text editor before you post, thus if something horrible happens that hour of well crafted diatribe ain't lost for good.
If it happens too much to an individual, please tell me about it. steve@cybersaps.com
